One set of books

Every source in. Every report out. Reconciled in between.

Brokers, banks, the desk and your administrator feed one ledger. Reconciliations, the NAV pack, investor statements and filings come out of the same one.

Inputs: prime brokers, custodians and banks, the trading desk or OMS, the fund administrator and investor documents. Outputs: daily reconciliations, the NAV pack, investor statements, regulatory filings and management reporting.

  • One data modelLedger, investor register and controls share it, so nothing is rekeyed between systems.
  • Reconciled inside the ledgerCash, position and three-way reconciliations run against the books, with breaks aged and explained.
  • The same number everywhereYour administrator, your desk and your investors look at one figure, not three versions of it.

03 · Technology · our proprietary platform, Tychi

Inside our platform: one NAV cycle, start to finish.

Fundtec runs on its own fund accounting and operations platform, called Tychi. It is not sold as software: it is what our team runs your fund on, so the people who configure it are the people who sign your NAV.

  1. 01

    Ingest

Every counterparty in, by whatever route it offers

Trades, positions, cash, prices and investor activity arrive by API, SFTP, spreadsheet or PDF. Statements that only exist as PDFs are read, validated and queued for review rather than rekeyed.

  2. 02

    Ledger

A double-entry general ledger per fund

Every transaction posts balanced journal entries against a custom chart of accounts, with a traceable source. Ledger, investor register and controls share one data model, so nothing is copied between systems.

  3. 03

    Reconcile

Reconciliations run against the ledger, not beside it

Cash, position and three-way reconciliations run inside the platform. Breaks are assigned, aged and explained, and nothing closes without maker-checker sign-off.

  4. 04

    Accrue and price

Fees, interest and expenses post themselves

Management and performance fees, interest and other accruals calculate on agreed schedules and post automatically, with reviewer approval before period close. Valuations follow the fund’s pricing hierarchy.

  5. 05

    Exceptions

AI points to what needs attention; people decide

Unusual items, such as unmatched cash, a price outside tolerance or a missing file, are flagged and routed to an analyst with context. The platform does the finding; the decisions stay with your team and ours.

  6. 06

    Report

One NAV pack, one portal, one audit trail

P&L allocates to investors and share classes, fees crystallise where applicable and the NAV pack goes for sign-off. Investors see statements and notices in the portal; managers see status on the dashboard; auditors trace every balance to source.

AI-enabled investment operations

AI prepares. Accountants review and sign.

Our platform uses AI to read, match and flag. Our people investigate, decide and release. Every step is on the audit trail.

  1. 01 Read

    Documents become data

Bank and broker statements, capital notices and investor documents that arrive as PDFs are read, validated and queued, not retyped.

  2. 02 Match

    Cash, positions and trades tied

Three-way reconciliations run against the ledger as data lands. Matched items clear; everything else becomes an exception with context.

  3. 03 Flag

    The unusual, surfaced

Unmatched cash, a price outside tolerance, a missing file or a late confirm is flagged, aged and routed to the right analyst.

  4. 04 Review

    People investigate and decide

An analyst resolves the exception; a checker approves it. No posting, wire or NAV is released on one pair of eyes.

  5. 05 Post

    Posted and logged

Balanced journals post to the ledger with a traceable source. Users, changes and approvals go to the audit trail your auditors can read.

AI prepares. People decide.

The platform does the finding and the first pass. Decisions, judgement and sign-off stay with Fundtec’s accountants and your team.

Everything is logged.

Every flag, every resolution and every approval is on the audit trail, so an auditor can trace a balance to its source without a reconstruction.

Your data stays yours.

Delivered under our ISO 27001-certified information security management, with SOC 1 and SOC 2 attestations in progress; and where our team works inside your systems, on client-issued accounts you control.

AI secured like the ledger.

The AI runs inside the same controlled environment, with role-based access and every suggestion and approval on the audit trail. It prepares work for review and never posts, pays or releases anything on its own.

What we are engaged for

Open-ended funds. Closed-ended funds. Investment operations.

Administration on our own platform for open-ended and closed-ended funds, and investment operations run inside yours. Each stands on its own; together they share one team and one reconciled ledger.

  • Series, equalisation and performance-fee accounting
  • Subscriptions, redemptions and the investor register
  • Daily cash, position and trade reconciliation
  • Financial statements, audit support and regulatory filings
02Closed-ended funds

Administration for private equity, venture, credit and real estate

Capital-account accounting from first close to final distribution, with the waterfall modelled from the LPA rather than a spreadsheet that drifts.

  • Capital calls, distributions and notices to LPs
  • Partner capital accounts and management-fee calculations
  • Waterfall, carried interest and clawback modelling
  • Valuations, IRR and quarterly investor reporting
  • Audit support, K-1s and tax reporting packs
03Investment operations

Dedicated pods that run the daily operating cycle inside your systems, alongside your existing administrator, for managers whose volumes have outgrown the in-house team.

  • Trade capture, confirmation and settlement oversight
  • Multi-prime cash, position and P&L reconciliation
  • Treasury, collateral and margin operations
  • Pricing, corporate actions and shadow NAV
  • IBOR/ABOR design and a named project manager as your SME

Common questions

What does “AI-enabled investment operations” mean at Fundtec?

Our proprietary platform uses AI to read documents that arrive as PDFs, match cash, positions and trades against the ledger, and flag unusual items such as unmatched cash, prices outside tolerance or missing files, routing them to an analyst with context. People investigate, decide and sign under maker-checker, and every step is logged on the audit trail. AI prepares the work; accountants review and release it.

What technology does Fundtec run on?

Fundtec administers funds on its own proprietary, AI-enabled fund accounting and operations platform, called Tychi. It combines an investor portal, a manager dashboard, data ingestion by API, SFTP, spreadsheet and PDF, a double-entry general ledger with automated accruals, integrated reconciliations and controls, and AI-assisted exception handling. It is not sold as standalone software, and no per-seat licence cost is passed to clients. See Technology.

Do we have to move onto Fundtec’s platform to work with Fundtec?

No. Our proprietary platform, Tychi, is included in two of our offerings. When Fundtec is your administrator, your fund runs on it with the investor portal, manager dashboard and reconciled ledger included and no per-seat licence passed on. Our managed investment operations also bring the platform and a dedicated Fundtec team together, so shadow accounting, reconciliation or investor services arrive as one service. If you would rather keep your own accounting, OMS or reconciliation systems, our investment operations team works inside them on client-issued accounts. Same team, same controls, same standard; you decide where the books live.

What does Fundtec do?

Fundtec is a global fund services and business-process firm. We administer open-ended and closed-ended funds on our proprietary platform, run middle-office investment operations for asset managers, launch funds through Unefund, and deliver managed investment operations: our platform and a dedicated Fundtec team as one service. We support USD 87B+ in assets for 120+ client partners across the major fund jurisdictions.

How long does it take to switch fund administrators?

For a mid-sized manager moving onto our platform, with a few funds, one outgoing administrator and standard instruments, an indicative timeline is: Weeks 1–2, design: scope, data request to the outgoing administrator, chart of accounts and investor register set up. Weeks 3–5, migration: historic statements, trade files and capital accounts are read and loaded by the platform’s AI-assisted ingestion rather than rekeyed, then reconciled to the outgoing books. Weeks 6–8, parallel run: both administrators produce the NAV; differences are explained and cleared under maker-checker. Week 9, go-live: Fundtec signs the first NAV, investor statements go out from the portal. Larger or more complex books follow the full four-phase plan, with core cut-over around 90 days. See Switch Your Administrator.

How is the AI secured?

The AI runs inside the same controlled environment as the ledger: under Fundtec’s ISO 27001-certified information security management system, with role-based access, and with every suggestion, flag and approval written to the audit trail. It prepares work for review; it does not post, pay or release anything on its own. Client data is handled under the engagement’s confidentiality terms and the platform’s data-handling policy, and in managed investment operations engagements stays inside the client’s environment.

How is client data secured?

Fundtec is certified to ISO 27001 for information security and ISO 9001 for quality management. SOC 1 and SOC 2 attestations are in progress. The platform runs under that information security management system with role-based access, maker-checker on postings and approvals, a full audit trail and documented business continuity. Where our investment operations team works inside a client’s environment, it uses client-issued accounts over VPN, with no data stored locally. See Controls & Governance.
