Who We Serve
An institutional operations spine for asset managers
Asset managers answer to investors, auditors and regulators at once. Fundtec runs the trade, reconciliation, treasury and oversight processes that hold the operating model together.
In one minute
Investment operations for asset managers covers the processes between the trading desk and the official books: trade operations, reconciliations, treasury and product control, shadow books, NAV oversight and fee verification. Fundtec provides these services to asset managers, including SEC-registered advisers, through dedicated pods in the manager’s systems or on its Tychi platform, with ISO 27001 controls documented for investor due diligence.
Firms of this type, whether they need full administration, a middle office, or capacity added to an existing team.
A 30-minute scoping call, then a written plan: scope, the transition timeline and indicative pricing. No generic proposal.
What an operations spine means for an asset manager
An asset manager’s operations connect the portfolio managers, the brokers and custodians, the administrators and the finance team. When those connections run through spreadsheets and individual knowledge, errors surface late: a missed corporate action, an unreconciled margin call, a fee invoiced on the wrong base.
Fundtec builds a single middle office spine instead: one security master, one reconciliation schedule, one break log, one fee model and one governance cadence. For SEC-registered advisers, independent shadow accounting gives the manager its own view of client and fund positions, supporting books-and-records obligations and oversight of third-party administrators.

How the operations spine supports growth
New products are where operating models break. A new credit sleeve brings agent notices and loan-level accruals; a new separately managed account brings another custodian and another reconciliation; a new share class brings another fee schedule. When these are bolted onto spreadsheets, the COO inherits hidden risk with each launch.
With a single spine, each addition follows a documented pattern: set up the instrument in the security master, add the account to the reconciliation schedule, load the fee terms into the verification model and extend the governance pack. The dedicated PM owns that checklist, so launches follow the same controls whether they are the manager’s fifth product or its fiftieth. Growth becomes a scheduling question rather than a hiring question.

Ask a specialistFrequently asked questions
Why do SEC-registered advisers keep shadow books?
Shadow books give the adviser its own record of fund and client positions, independent of the administrator. That supports oversight of service providers, helps the adviser respond to investor and examination requests, and catches NAV and fee errors before sign-off. Fundtec runs shadow books in the adviser’s systems so records remain under its control.
What does NAV oversight involve?
NAV oversight means comparing the administrator’s NAV to an independent calculation each period and explaining every material variance before sign-off. Fundtec rebuilds positions, prices, accruals and fees from source data, reports differences by cause and tracks them to resolution with the administrator, giving the COO evidence for approval.
How does Fundtec verify management and performance fees?
Fundtec recalculates each fee from the governing documents: fee rate, base, accrual method, high-water marks, hurdles and any side letter terms. The recalculation is compared to the administrator’s or manager’s figure before invoices are paid or accrued, and differences are documented with the clause that drives them.
Can Fundtec help us prepare for investor due diligence?
Yes. Fundtec documents the operating model, controls, SLAs and service-provider roles in a structure that maps to common DDQ sections. Because the pod operates those controls daily, the evidence exists: break logs, sign-off records and SLA packs. That makes operational due diligence meetings shorter and more concrete.
Does Fundtec offer outsourced CFO services?
Senior CFO and COO consulting is available through Fundtec UAE, a registered DNFBP in Dubai. It suits managers who need senior finance judgement without a full-time hire, alongside Fundtec’s operational pods. Fundtec does not provide legal, tax or audit advice; those remain with the manager’s appointed advisers.
Can Fundtec work across multiple custodians and administrators?
Yes. Most asset managers use several custodians, prime brokers and sometimes more than one administrator. Fundtec consolidates their data into one reconciliation schedule, one break log and one set of shadow books, so the manager sees a consistent picture regardless of which provider holds each account.
Can Fundtec run on our own systems rather than Tychi?
Yes. Under our investment operations model, a dedicated team works in the manager’s own order management, accounting and reconciliation systems through accounts the manager controls. Data stays in the manager’s environment. Managers without a suitable platform can instead use our managed investment operations: books of record on our platform, Tychi, with the team included and no per-seat licence cost passed on.
