Who We Serve
Investment operations for sovereign funds and state investors
Sovereign funds allocate across many external managers, custodians and asset classes. Fundtec gives them one reconciled view of all of it, with the independence and the audit trail a public institution needs.
In one minute
Sovereign wealth funds and other state investors typically hold a mix of directly managed portfolios and mandates run by external managers, across several custodians and jurisdictions. Fundtec provides the investment operations behind that structure: independent shadow accounting of each mandate, reconciliation of positions and cash across custodians and managers, performance and exposure reporting on one set of books, and oversight packs for the investment committee and the board. Work is delivered on Fundtec’s proprietary platform or inside the fund’s own systems, under ISO 27001-certified controls, with every action on the audit trail.
Firms of this type, whether they need full administration, a middle office, or capacity added to an existing team.
A 30-minute scoping call, then a written plan: scope, the transition timeline and indicative pricing. No generic proposal.
What sovereign funds need from an operations partner
A sovereign fund’s operating challenge is rarely a single fund’s NAV. It is the number of parties involved: external managers each reporting in their own format, several custodians, direct holdings alongside mandates, and a governance structure that expects an independent view of all of it. Each manager’s figures are right for that manager; the work is reconciling them to the custodians and to each other, and reporting the whole on one basis.
Fundtec runs that reconciliation and reporting layer. Our team keeps an independent set of books for each mandate, reconciles it to the custodian and the manager every cycle, and consolidates the result into exposure, performance and fee reporting that the investment office and the board can rely on. Where the fund has its own systems, the work is done inside them.
What Fundtec runs for a sovereign fund
- 01
External manager oversight
Shadow books for each mandate, reconciled to the manager’s statements and the custodian’s records, with differences explained and aged.
- 02
Multi-custodian reconciliation
Positions, cash, corporate actions and income reconciled across custodians, with one break log for the whole programme.
- 03
Consolidated reporting
Exposure by asset class, region and manager; performance against benchmarks; fees and expenses by mandate, on one set of books.
- 04
Fee verification
Management and performance fees recalculated from the mandate terms and checked against invoices before payment.
- 05
Private markets administration
Capital calls, distributions, valuations and waterfalls for private equity, credit, real assets and infrastructure commitments.
- 06
Governance packs
Investment committee and board reporting on an agreed cadence, with the audit trail behind every figure.

Common questions about Sovereign Funds

Ask a specialistFrequently asked questions
Can Fundtec work inside our existing systems?
Yes. Managed investment operations run on our proprietary platform with the team included; where you prefer to keep your accounting, OMS or reconciliation systems, our investment operations team works inside them on client-issued accounts, with access granted and revoked by you.
Do you replace our external managers’ administrators?
No. Each mandate keeps its own administrator or manager reporting. Fundtec keeps an independent set of books for the mandate and reconciles it to those records, so the fund has a view that does not depend on any one party.
How do you handle data residency and confidentiality?
Work is delivered under Fundtec’s ISO 27001-certified information security management system. Where a fund requires it, the books are kept inside the fund’s own environment and no data leaves it. Confidentiality terms are agreed in the engagement documents.
What reporting cadence do you support?
Daily reconciliations, monthly mandate-level packs and quarterly consolidated reporting are typical; the cadence is set per fund in the scoping phase.
